Born in Newton, Mass., Bob came to New Britain in 1965 and, since 1973, spent his vacation time in Westerly, R.I. Bob was a CPA and Certified Financial Planner. Together with his late wife Phyllis (Thompson) Mugford, Bob was a principal of Mugford and Company which he built from a small tax preparation service into one of New Britain's most respected accounting practices. Bob was a passionate contributor to numerous organizations in New Britain. He loved "Mystery Nights" with friends, his tennis group, early morning racquetball, Monday croquet, reading on Shelter Harbor Beach and watching sea life and sunsets in Vero Beach. His greatest love was enjoying a "marvelous" meal with his large and growing family. Bob is survived by his wife, Miriam (Flanagan) Hayes; by his four children, David (and Jody) Mugford of Annapolis, Md., Stephen (and Kristin) Mugford of Cambridge, Mass., Charles (and Bevin) Mugford of Bryan, Texas and Farmington, and Kimberly (and Marc) Kaplan of Radnor, Penn., and their eleven children, Christopher, Elise, Emma, Kiely, Lyndsey, Phoebe, Aubrey, Grayson and Duncan Mugford, and Phillip and William Kaplan; by Miriam's four children, Andrew (and Annie) Hayes of Milton, Mass., Christine Hayes (and David Lewis) of Somerville, Mass., Kathleen (and Mark) Bugnacki of Southington, and Julie Hayes of Winsted, and their five children, Maeve, Norah, and Parker Bugnacki, Rowan Lewis and John Hayes. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia McLaughlin of Central Conway, N.H.; sister-in-law, Cora Mugford of Maine, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his late wife Phyllis, Bob was also predeceased by his grandson, Spencer Mugford; his brother, Douglas Mugford and his sister, Grace Marks. |
